A constant flow of inventive new programming keeps Trent Durham GTA grads at the forefront of global opportunity. Some of the University’s newest programs include the following:
Competitive Co-op Streams offering paid work experience: Put your skills and knowledge to work in one of Trent Durham GTA’s 3 new competitive co-op streams in Business Administration (including all specializations), Communications or Criminology. You’ll graduate with a distinct career advantage – building valuable connections and gaining hands-on experience through paid work terms, all as part of your 4-year Trent Durham GTA degree. Our new co-op programs build on Trent Durham GTA's longstanding commitment to provide all students with guaranteed career experience during your time as an undergraduate.
Law & Arts/Law & Business: Trent/Swansea Dual Degree (LLB & BA or LLB & BBA): In this one-of-a-kind program, you will graduate with two degrees in just 6 years, earning an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree or Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Trent Durham GTA and a law degree from Swansea University's renowned Hillary Rodham Clinton School of Law. You’ll also have the chance to take your education global while you live, learn, travel, explore and live abroad in the UK.
Logistics & Supply Chain Management (BA): This new in-demand degree will equip you with the skills and experience required to succeed in the in-demand fields of purchasing, planning, production, logistics and distribution. The program is designed to produce managers in supply chain management. It also prepares students to achieve the Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP) designation.
Policing & Community Well-being (BA): Be part of a truly unique degree experience – the only community-inclusive policing program of its kind in Canada, offered exclusively at Trent Durham GTA. As modern policing evolves, keeping communities safe is no longer achieved through force, but rather through a practice of collaboration and social awareness. In the new Policing & Community Well-being degree, you will explore these practices and the economic, social and cultural features that shape the needs of communities to help empower its citizens, law enforcement and outreach groups to come together and make a difference.
Criminology (BA): Justice served is about so much more than crime and punishment. In Trent Durham GTA’s Criminology degree, you will gain a foundational understanding of the influence of social inequality as a cause of crime. Learning alongside faculty experts in Sociology, Law, Gender & Social Justice and Indigenous Studies, you will be able to apply your skills and knowledge to better understand the systems at play for both criminals and victims. This program is offered fully online, but can also be taken as a hybrid between online and in-class learning. Students can also perform independent research on homelessness, the criminalization of women, as well as gain critical understanding of the realities of Indigenous peoples’ with the criminal justice system.
Journalism & Creative Writing (BA & Diploma): Trent Durham GTA has teamed up with Durham College to create an exciting new integrated degree and diploma program – blending the practical media production experience gained in college with crucial critical thinking and writing skills developed in university. With an emphasis on hands-on learning, you’ll gain new confidence building a strong portfolio of work that will help launch your career in journalism, broadcasting and media. Develop career-based skills in journalism, social media and content creation, earning both a university degree in Media Studies and a college diploma in Journalism/Mass Media – all in just 4 years.
Computer Science (BSc): Get advanced use of the latest science and digital technologies, with assistance from professors who are experts in their fields as you develop your skills in designing, implementing and integrating software applications – everything from supercomputers to game boards.
A Business School with a Difference: Trent Durham GTA’s popular School of Business offers all the advantages of a traditional Bachelor of Business Administration and more. The School provides students with the opportunity to specialize their degree in Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, Information Systems and E-Commerce, or Marketing and Consumer Culture.
Child & Youth Studies (BA): Offered exclusively at Trent’s Durham GTA campus, you’ll gain essential expertise in understanding the child and youth experience through exploration in emotional and cognitive development, relationships and social justice, laws and rights, and teaching and programming. Get a head start on a teaching career with a direct pathway into Trent’s Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) program. A number of guaranteed spaces are reserved for Child & Youth Studies graduates.
Communications (BA): Exclusive to our Trent Durham GTA campus, this degree program prepares you for a long and satisfying career by encouraging the development of durable and transferable skills prized by a range of employers. This uniquely versatile program combines courses in project management, writing, research and numeracy with other self-selected courses from a wide range of programs on campus. This program also features a hands-on capstone course, which gives students the opportunity to make a difference in the local community and gain career experience at the same time. Students also have the opportunity to specialize in Business Communications or Media Relations.
