A high school transcript is just 1 piece of information Queen's University uses when making an admission decision. Each applicant to Queen's has a personalized To Do List, detailing exactly what is needed to complete their application. Students can review their To Do List (and associated due dates) on their Queen's SOLUS Student Centre. Students will receive instructions for accessing SOLUS after they apply.
Language Requirements
Applicants who meet 1 of the following criteria do not need to submit a test of facility in English:
- You completed an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma (completion of SL English B is not sufficient).
- You lived in a country where English is the acknowledged primary language for the most recent 3 years prior to beginning your university studies.
- You attended an educational institution full-time where the medium of instruction is English for the most recent 3 years prior to beginning your university studies.
All other applicants must achieve a satisfactory score on 1 of the tests of facility in English in the following chart.
Queen's School of English: Students who achieve a high standing on a 12-week English for Academic Purposes advanced-level course through Queen's School of English may be eligible for an English-proficiency exam waiver.
Admission
Offers of Admission
All offers of admission made to 17³Ô¹Ï high school students by Queen's University, prior to receiving final grades and completing the 17³Ô¹Ï Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), are conditional. Decisions can be based on final Grade 11 results (with registration in appropriate Grade 12 courses), final first semester Grade 12 results and/or Grade 12 interim results.
Basic Requirements for Admission
The OSSD and six 4U/M courses, including English 4U, are required. Please review the specific program requirements for more details, as some programs require additional courses at the U-level. Average calculation is based on prerequisite subjects, plus the next best 4U/M courses, for a total of 6 courses.
Note: The Engineering admission average is calculated using only the 5 prerequisite courses.

Failed and Repeated Courses
17³Ô¹Ï universities support full disclosure of all marks achieved in all attempts at a high school course. At Queen's, all undergraduate programs will use the most recent grade achieved when calculating the admission average.
Timing and Process for Admission Decisions
Admission decisions will be made once all required documentation is submitted to Undergraduate Admission and Recruitment. The deadline for 17³Ô¹Ï high school students to submit documentation to Queen's (not including the SE) is April 30.
Admission decisions will be made on an ongoing basis from early December to mid-May. 17³Ô¹Ï high school students are required to respond to offers of admission by June 1.
Alternative Offers
Queen's University does not make alternative offers of admission. Students are considered only for the program(s) to which they apply (or amend) through the 17³Ô¹Ï Universities' Application Centre. Students should ensure all program choices are listed on their application.
