English Language Requirements for All Applicants
If English is not your first language or mother tongue, you should provide evidence of your English language proficiency through one of the entry requirements or language tests below.
Academically admissible applicants who do not present appropriate English Proficiency Requirements will be automatically offered a conditional offer of admission based on completion of the English for Academic Preparation (EAP) program in Laurentian University’s Language Institute.

Note: English as a Second Language (ESL) programs do not qualify you for this exemption and cannot be included in the number of years of full-time education in an English-language school system. IB and/or AP English courses also do not qualify for an exemption from the English language requirements.
French Language Requirements for All Applicants
To be admitted to a program offered in French or a bilingual program, a student must meet one of the following criteria:
- Three years of full-time study in a high school or post-secondary institution where French is the language of instruction (documentation must be provided by the student)
- A minimum grade of C-1 (advanced) on the Test de connaissance du français (TCF), version for prospective students
- A minimum score of C-1 at the written component of the Test d'évaluation du français (TEF)
- Diplôme approfondi de langue française (DALF) with a minimum score of C-1

Basic Requirements for Admission
17勛圖 high school students who apply for admission to first year at Laurentian University must present an 17勛圖 Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), and at least six 4U/M courses (as specified in each program listing) with the minimum grade requirements. Prerequisites may vary for each program.
Failed and Repeated Courses
For repeated courses, Laurentian will take the best of the 2 marks.
Timing and Process for Admission Decisions
If you attend a semestered school, you may receive an early conditional offer of admission if:
- you completed Grade 11 courses with an overall average that is equal to or higher than the program average requirement;
- you are enrolled in a sufficient number of courses to ensure you will complete at least six 4U/M courses by the end of June and qualify to obtain the OSSD.
If you do not receive an early conditional offer of admission, you will be considered on an individual and ongoing basis as additional grades are made available.
All high school applicants must successfully complete six 4U/M courses and receive the OSSD; failure to do so may result in withdrawal of the offer of admission.
If you receive an offer of admission, you must reply by June 2, 2025.
AP Policy
If you completed Advanced Placement (AP) courses in appropriate subjects with a grade of 4 or more, you may receive transfer credits equivalent to a maximum of 2 courses (12 credits). You must also meet the regular university admission requirements since AP courses are not accepted in lieu of these.
IB Policy
Applicants who have completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) are eligible for admission provided they have achieved a minimum score of 24 and have fulfilled the diploma requirements (6 subjects: minimum 3 at the higher level).
Applicants may receive transfer credits for higher-level courses with a grade of 5 or higher, without the completion of the IB diploma, to a maximum of 18 credits. Applicants who have successfully completed the IB diploma, with a score of 28 or higher, may be eligible for an additional 6 credits for a standard-level course with a grade of 5 or higher; for a maximum total of 24 credits.
Applicants must submit the International Baccalaureate transcript to the Office of Admissions for evaluation.
