When We Award Entrance Scholarships
If you receive an offer of admission to Laurier, we will let you know what your projected entrance scholarship is in your offer letter, based on your current grades at the time of your offer. Entrance scholarships are based on your admission average as of July 11, 2025. Entrance scholarships are finalized in late July.
Your entrance scholarship is automatically applied to your tuition and fee invoice, and is split between your first 2 terms of study. To be eligible to receive your full entrance scholarship amount, you must be registered full time in at least 2 academic terms within the same academic year (Laurier's academic year is September to August).
Upper-Year Scholarships
In years 2 through 4 (5 for some programs), you will be automatically considered for in-course scholarships based on your academic grade point average (GPA). In-course scholarships begin at a GPA of 10.5 and above (or approximately 82.5% and above). In-course scholarships are awarded on an annual basis and no application is required. Students are required to complete at least 5.0 credits (5.0 credits = 10 half-year courses) within the same academic year in order to be assessed.
Note: Students who receive the President's Gold Scholarship are not eligible for in-course scholarships.
Commonly Asked Questions
How do you calculate my average for an entrance scholarship?
Your admission average is calculated using your top six 4U/M courses, including required courses for some programs. See your program of interest on OUInfo to determine whether or not we include your required courses in your admission average. Entrance scholarships are based on your admission average as of July 11, 2025. Entrance scholarships are finalized in late July.
How do I apply for in-course scholarships?
This is the best part – you do not have to apply! These scholarships will be automatically applied to your tuition invoice if you meet the GPA requirements and have completed a minimum of 5.0 credits within the same academic year.
If I don't meet the grade requirements in year 2 for an in-course scholarship, for example, am I still eligible to receive an in-course scholarship in my fourth year?
Yes. If you achieve an annual GPA of 10 or higher in years 2 through 4 (or 5 for some programs), you will be eligible to receive an in-course scholarship.
If my GPA increases in university, will I receive a higher scholarship amount?
Absolutely! The amount of your in-course scholarship depends entirely on your GPA, regardless of what you received coming into your first year.
